Tub door options and typical prices
Installed prices for a standard 60″ tub, clear tempered glass, tax not included. Final price depends on your exact measurements, glass type and hardware finish.
| Option | Typical installed price | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Frameless sliding tub door (bypass) | $900 – $1,600 | The clean, modern look: two 3/8″ panels on a top-mounted roller bar, no bottom track to clean |
| Semi-frameless or framed slider | $500 – $1,100 | Budget updates and rentals; framed top and bottom track, 1/4″ glass |
| Hinged tub door with fixed panel | $900 – $1,500 | A swinging door plus a fixed panel — easier to clean than a slider |
| Fixed tub screen (single panel, no door) | $450 – $800 | A single frameless splash panel at the shower head end; European look, most affordable frameless option |
| Tub-to-shower conversion glass | See shower door prices | Once the tub is out and the shower tiled, we install a frameless door or enclosure |
Popular upgrades: low-iron glass (+$150–400), Guardian ShowerGuard® glass (+$150–350), matte black, oil-rubbed bronze or brushed gold hardware (+$100–250), frosted or rain glass (+$100–300). See all shower door prices.
Why swap the curtain for glass?
- It reads as a remodel in listing photos and to guests, for a fraction of the cost of tile.
- No more soggy curtain, no mildew, no water on the floor.
- Brighter bathroom. Clear glass lets light into the tub and makes a small bathroom feel bigger.
- Frameless sliders have no bottom track, so there’s nowhere for grime to collect.
Sliding vs. hinged tub doors
Sliding (bypass) doors are the default for tubs because they never swing into the room; choose them for tight bathrooms and anywhere a door would hit the vanity or toilet. Hinged tub doors with a fixed panel give a wider opening for bathing kids or cleaning the tub, and they’re easier to keep spotless because there’s no overlap between panels. We’ll recommend one after seeing your bathroom layout.
Will it fit my tub?
Yes. We custom-cut every panel to your tub’s length, the height you want, and the angle of your walls, which in older Houston homes are rarely perfectly plumb. Standard 60″ alcove tubs, 54″ tubs, and deeper soaking tubs are all fine. If you have a window in the tub wall or a tile ledge, tell us and we’ll plan around it.
Recent tub-to-shower conversions
Both are real Houston jobs: the tub came out, the alcove was tiled, and we finished it with custom-cut frameless glass. Text a photo of your tub and we’ll quote both options — a glass tub door now, or the conversion glass when you’re ready.
